12th Congress 2016 Munich, September 6-9th

 

Deadlines with call for abstracts will follow soon.

The American Hip Society will be part of the meeting and will bring speakers.

Tuesday 6th: industry workshops

Wednesday 7th: congress programme

Thursday 8th: congress programme. Evening at Augustina Kellar; a place with a long tradition in Munich.

Friday 9th: All Day Hip Arthroscopy session in the Europe and Asia lab with 120 places for hip arthroscopy.

The area of the congress is great. There are lots of hotels nearby. Nothing else to do but the meeting, then the metro takes you into town in 15 minutes.

Thank you to Prof Elke who has served as Swiss Nat Rep for many years, and to Dr Schreurs, who will become President next year.

The Netherlands candidate: Dr Stephan Vehmeijer.

  • 2x Nat Reps each month write 150 words – keeps us up to date with orthopaedics from one another’s countries
  • Opportunity for the EHS President, or any ExCom member, to address the members

Membership payment

1/2 of members have paid their dues so far this year.

Half members pay by credit card, half by SEPA (online).

Well over half choose not to have printed Hip journal.

 

EHS Travelling Fellowship

Currently being organised.

By next year we will be receiving applications.

Not yet finalised – Applicants will be under 40 years old, will visit probably 4 places for 2-3 weeks, with travel expenses covered by EHS.

 

ExCom Skype meetings

  • The EHS ExCom holds successful monthly meetings via Skype since November 2014, saving EHS money (€30 pa) and time.
  • First time in EHS’s history the ExCom has met on a monthly basis
  • ExCom can turn matters around quicker, which keeps the society fresh & relevant

 

 

New Co-Editor in Chief of Hip International

Prof Karachalios (EHS’s Treasurer) joins Richard Baker in this position. He is the 2015 Chairman of HAOST and Treasurer of EHS since 2012. Following clinical and research experience at Bristol Royal Infirmary, UK, he completed a degree in Biomechanics and Bioengineering at Strathclyde University, Glasgow.  He is Professor in Orthopaedics at the University of Thessaly and has published 110 papers in international Journals, written 11 book chapters, is the author and editor of 2 books.
